Bulgaria and the Balkans - millenniums of spiritual life

Since remote past Bulgaria has been the cradle of spiritual and cultural life. Millenniums before Christ, when a great part of mankind lived in darkness, in that region of the world a bright light broke out, which pointed at a new way of development for all people. In the sacred bosom of the Rhodope Mountains a mystical center has been created - the Orphean School.

The myths and legends describe Thrace as a country of light, harmony and music, as the fatherland of the Muses. It is right there, close to the Rhodope summits, where the sanctuary of Orpheus was situated and Sacred Arts were taught.

More than thousand years ago Bulgaria gave rise to a movement with international importance - the Bogomil teaching. Its followers were bearers of the real Christ's doctrine. They proclaimed, the simple, pure and saintly life based on love, fraternity and equality among people. The Bogomil movement had not only spiritual character, it also fought for considerable social reforms in the dark times of the Middle Ages. Although brutally repressed in Bulgaria, the Bogomil movement spread in all Europe and under different names (Bugry, Cathars, Albeginsians, Patarins, Husits, Kwakers, Rosechrists and many others) has stimulated Humanism, Reformation and Renaissance, which build the base of the new World.

In the beginning of the 20th Century Bulgaria again becomes the center of a movement of an universal significance. This is the Teaching of Love, which Master Beinsa Douno (Peter Deunov) gave to the world. The Teaching is based on three Universal Principles: Love, Wisdom, and Truth.

Love in the heart brings purity, thanks to which the capacities latent within human beings will develop, enabling them to achieve all their noble desires. Wisdom in the mind brings light, which helps us in the study of the laws of Nature. Truth shining within the soul brings freedom from every weakness and vice.

You can try the different spiritual programs based on this Teaching - lectures, meditations, exercises, Paneurythmy. The Sacred Circle Dance - Paneurythmy - the moving meditation, which is danced to music usually at sunrise from 22 March to 22 September. Paneurythmy energizes the person; it organizes and harmonizes her/his inner forces, coordinating and directing them towards mindful life. Therefore, it can be said that Paneurythmy is a method for self-development and education for everybody.
