RhoDea House

The village of Dolen 

The village of Dolen is a unique architectural and historical preserve situated in the Western part of the Rhodopes. Archaeologists have discovered remains of old settlements dating II - IV century in this area and the first written documents are traced back to the XVI century. A few Thracian sanctuaries are within a walking distance in the close vicinity of the village. 

The RhoDea House

The guests will be accommodated at the RhoDea House - an authentic 260 years old house which has preserved the simplicity and the coziness of the traditional Bulgarian home. There are 5 authentically furnished rooms, 3 modern bathrooms, 4 fireplaces and 2 huge chardaks (interior sofa areas between the rooms). There is a large table in the covered yard and a fireplace. Visiting Dolen will get you in touch with the rich folk and ethnographic heritage of the area. 

The village of Trigrad 

Trigrad is a small village picturesquely nested on the rocks of the mountain. The guests could decide either to visit the Yagodinska cave - one of the longest caves in the country with its strange rock shapes, or to climb up to the gorgeous Haramiyska cave. They may also decide to descend to the bottom of the Devil's gorge cave. In this cave is the biggest cascade of waterfalls on the Balkan Peninsula, with a total height of 60m. According to the legend this is the place where Orpheus went down into the kingdom of specters, in search of his beloved Eurydice. 

The place offers: fishing, walking in the green meadows and beautiful hills, bird watching - where you will have the chance to see some rare species not seen anywhere else but there.

The House with the Sun 

The town of Sozopol

Our guests are accommodated in "The House with the Sun". It is an authentic family house built in the middle of 19 c. with exquisite interior and artistic atmosphere. It is also equipped with all present - day conveniences (Jacuzzi and sauna). For various reasons since the remote 7 c. B.C. when the ancient Greeks founded the city it has always been an attractive place. 

The old city enchants its visitors with its picturesque location, specific architecture, ancient excavations and summer cultural events, especially in September when "Appolonia" art and music festival is organized.

The guests may enjoy the calm coziness and artistic atmosphere of the house as well as the summer crowd excitement outside its nice garden. 

The town of Melnik 

This is the smallest town-museum in Bulgaria that hugs its flock of houses in the skirts of the sandstone pyramids. The surrounding hillsides once guarded the town against enemies, but today they are just like a giant curtain of a scene and Melnik on it. The highlights of sightseeing Melnik are The Boyar's house dating 10-11c, the magnificent 17th Kordopulov's house, the mid 18th c. church "St. Nicholay Chudotvorets" ("St. Nicholas the Miracle maker"), etc. 

But the tiny town of Melnik would not have survived unless its population did not grow the famous Melnik grapes and produced the strong Melnik wine. A lot of wine cellars are at disposal of everybody who would like to take the challenge to judge the best wine and the best wine producer. 

You will stay at the impressive restored 18 th century Lumparov’s House. The house offers: 6 double rooms, mechana - typical Bulgarian restaurant - with big fireplace, and wine cellar. 6 km east from the town you can visit the picturesque Rozhen monastery, which is another pearl of the Bulgarian Renaissance architecture of 17 - 18th century.
